Dr David D’Cruz Head of Clinical Research in the Lupus Unit at St Thomas’ Hospital, Dr D'Cruz has published extensively on lupus and vasculitis.

Dr David Wheeler Dr Wheeler is Consultant Nephrologist at the Royal Free Hospital. His research interest is in cardiovascular risk factors in inflammatory conditions, especially those with renal involvement.

Dr Rebecca Preston is Consultant Radiologist at St Thomas’ Hospital with particular interest in rheumatology and connective tissue diseases.

Professor Mark Pepys is Head of Immunology and the Royal Free Hospital and a world authority on amyloidosis, its causes and its treatment.

Dr Munther Khamashta is Head of Laboratory Research in the St Thomas’ Hospital Lupus Unit and is a world authority on pregnancy in lupus.

Dr Elizabeth Graham is Consultant Ophthalmologist at St Thomas’ Hospital with particular expertise in ocular complications of vasculitis and connective tissue diseases.

Professor Angela Vincent (Oxford) is an international authority on auto-antibodies and the brain. She has published widely on mechanisms of neurologic disease, especially myasthenia gravis.

Dr Mohammed Sharief is Consultant Neurologist at Colchester Hospital and has a particular interest in neurological aspects of lupus and Hughes Syndrome.

Professor Roy Fleischmann is Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centre, Dallas. He is an international authority on anti-TNF treatment.

Professor Christopher Denton runs a national scleroderma referral centre and research unit at the Royal Free Hospital, London.

Professor Ivan Roitt is Emeritus Professor Immunology at University College Hospital and one of the Fathers of World Immunology. Doniach & Roitt introduced the first tests for thyroid antibodies.

Dr Rachel Davies, Honorary Consultant in the St Thomas’ Hospital Lupus Unit, has completed a major study of risk factors in accelerated arterial disease in lupus and Hughes syndrome.

Dr Shirish Sangle from St Thomas’ Hospital Lupus Unit, has published widely on his clinical observations in Hughes syndrome, including papers on renal and mesenteric artery stenosis and idiopathic bone fracture.

Professor Graham Hughes, Emeritus Professor of Medicine at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, Professor Hughes is now Head of The London Lupus Centre at London Bridge Hospital. He has published widely in lupus, and in 1983 first described the antiphospholipid (Hughes) syndrome.

Dr Maria Cuadrado is Consultant Physician in the St Thomas’ Hospital Lupus Unit. She has published both on clinical as well as basic (tissue factor) aspects of Hughes syndrome.

Dr Laura Bertolaccini works in the laboratories at St Thomas’ Hospital and has published extensively on assays for anti-ß2, anti-prothrombin and other antibodies of significance in vascular disease.

Dr Beverley Hunt is Consultant Haematologist at St Thomas’ Hospital and undertakes clinics in the lupus unit. She is an expert in clotting mechanisms in lupus and Hughes Syndrome.

Dr Christopher Edwards is Consultant Rheumatologist at Southampton University Hospital. He has a national and international reputation for his work on anti-TNF agents in rheumatoid arthritis.

Professor I Uthman is Consultant Rheumatologist in Beirut, Lebanon and has published extensively on lupus and antiphospholipid syndrome.

Dr Renee Allaart Consultant Rheumatologist in The Netherlands, has led the major breakthrough trial (the BEST study) on anti-TNF treatment of RA.

Dr J Calvo, Consultant Rheumatologist in Spain, is one of the contributors to the major international study on the effect of hormonal changes on immunological diseases, especially with reference to lupus.

Dr Catherine Nelson-Piercy, Consultant Obstetric Physician at St Thomas’ Hospital is an internationally renowned expert on medical complications in obstetrics.

Dr Patrick Kiely, Consultant Rheumatologist at St George’s Hospital, has developed a special interest in the management of vasculitis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Professor Yehuda Shoenfield, Consultant Physician, Tel Aviv, is a world leader in the field of autoimmune diseases and has published extensively in lupus, vasculitis and other related connective tissue diseases.
